Say Bob...... I have a Heathkit service note that they sent me in 1974. It
states that with high power and high SWR, that the trimmer you mentioned can
be destroyed. They suggest changing it to a 1-20 pf, 750 volt trimmer
(31-94)
But then you have to change the spacers to .875 instead of 3/4" to allow for
room.
Any little trimmer cap you can fit in there around that range will probably
be ok.
