Unusual Question???

Hi fellow Heath enthusiasts,
I have a question i'll bet you don't hear very often. I have been a
Heathkit enthusiast for a long time. Years ago I built a Heath DMM then
used it to build a Heathkit TV, then built some other Heath projects.
But, no radio gear. I am not even a licensed amateur, yet. I take my
test for Technician this Saturday but I know the information and am
confident that I will get my ticket. I have a 2 meter rig on order so I
am covered for now. As soon as I pass my test I start studying code and
plan to take my code test next month. Now the question. I want a Heath
HF rig capable of CW and SSB. Which one would be best for a beginner
like me. I really can't afford the modern HF rigs as I am disabled and
only live on a disability check so $500.00 and up is out of the
question. So, what do you think is a good and available Heathkit unit
for me?????
Thanks for your time and advice,
Glenn Fox
