HW-101 CW problem

A problem has developed with my HW-101.  When I am in CW mode and close the
key, the tone comes on, but does not turn off. I can see the rf output
corresponds to my key clicks, but the tone stays on the whole time.  If I
switch the mode to USB or LSB, the tone will turn off.  Alternatively, if I
key the mike while in cw mode, the tone will turn off.  Does anybody have
any ideas?  Thanks.
