Help on a CT-1

have a CT-1 which uses a tightly coupled oscillator (Hartley) which provides the 19 KHz to check the open capacitors.  Well the Unit will not test the capacitor and I would like to check the oscillator.  The Instruction manual states that even grid dip meter would load the oscillator to a point oscillations would stop. If I can not use a grid dip meter how is one to measure the output of the oscillator to see if it is working.
