OIL in question

Bird uses transformer oil that is simply an "extra" refined
mineral oil in their loads. I had to replace an element in
one of my big Bird loads a year or so ago and they sent me
information on replacement oil.... I found out that my
electric utility buys the same stuff by the tanker full....
they gave me 2 gallons for free. At volume they buy it
wasn't woth the paperwork to "sell" it to me at .25 cents
for my measly 2 gal of product. The name of the product is
Shell "Diala".
" Alliant Energy Systems uses uninhibited mineral oil (Shell
Diala, NEMA Type 1-A Type 2-AX) for its transformers.
Uninhibited oil means a suitably refined mineral oil
containing no additives (in accordance with NEMA standards)
and only such naturally occurring oxidation inhibitors as
remain in the oil. When requested, a 0.3% (max.) DBPC
inhibitor is added. This may vary to meet the oxidation
stability requirement."
