Gary,
I have one of these units. Bought it from a surplus dealer that made the
Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio hamfest circuit in the early 70's it was
complete less the meter. He had an almost exact duplicate meter that fir and
worked. I tested countless numbers of voltage regulators with it. This tester
unlike some others from automotive electrical rebuilder suppliers used a
heating plate as the current load to warm up the VR during the test
procedure. The heat simulated actual operating temps.
As I recall the unit was sold in the catalog for a short period only. Due to
the proprietary nature of the tester I believe General Motors put their foot
down on Heath.
I have still have an operational manual for the tester as well as the tester
itself.
GM first started using the integrated VR in 1968 on the some 442's and
Corvettes. Caddy got it in 70 or 71 possibly the Eldos had it earlier and
from memory most other GM divisions had the by 1973. If a copy of the
operational manual is a help please contact me directly.
