>>>>I have a Kam Plus TNC which is about 7 yrs old,
but I have the current (8.2) EPROM installed. The
device
works fine with the old DOS version of Pacterm that
came with it. I recently downloaded demo version the
newest Windows Pacterm package. When I load the new
Pacterm, the program doesn't see the TNC. No cmd:
prompt--nothing. I did a hard reset of the TNC, and
it still didn't work with the new program. I have
tried it several times with the old DOS version, and
the program does work with the TNC. The Pacterm folks
suggested that I try Hyperterm and see if Windows
"sees" the TNC. No joy.
I went thru the IRQ's, and I don't find any conflicts.
Any suggestions about how to make this thing work?

MAKE sure the port assignments line up (com1, etc)b
COM1 is used only for the TNC

What COM port is the TNC connected to? In Device
manager does the COM port exist without ! Or X marks?
And of course, what version of Windows are you
running...
Need more input!
As above--using COM1 for the TNC. This is the only
device connected to COM1, and it is configured to
COM1. All the ports in device manager are clear,
without !, X, other notations. Using Win 98. The
"About" screen has no indication of the edition, so I
guess it is early.
Interesting with this is that the DOS version DOES
work with the TNC. Of course, with DOS, the program
directly controls the COM port. The Windows version
of Pacterm, and Hyperterminal, both of which go thru
Windows to the COM port, do not see the TNC. I guess
I need to contact Kantronics.
