SB dial vernier

Does anyone have a fix for a no longer clutching zero vernier wheel on
the SB series Heaths? This is the dial zero line, the position of which
is changeable to zero beat the set using the calibrator. My wheel, with
the two little gripper disks, no longer mates with the piece of plastic
on which the mark is located. Looks like the top of this piece of
plastic holding the mark has rubbed off, thus shortening the edge that
would normally have been long enuf to mate with the little wheel. Looks
like a real tangle in there.
