VTVM Probes

A few months back, we were talking about the probes for Heath VTVMs, and
someone pointed out that the insulator sleeves on the phone plugs were
longer than normal size. I presume regular plugs would work too, but I
guess they used the thicker insulators to prevent arcing over with high
voltages. Someone here mentioned that someone he knew was considering
making up some of the longer-insulator plugs.

We also talked about what was inside the probes -- recall, Heath used a
rotating collar to select DC and AC, switching a 1M resistor in and out.

Someone here recently was looking to buy a VTVM. I've got about a dozen
now, but most of them came from eBay sans probe sets.

I was wondering: Does anyone here have any interest, or knowledge
about, making up some new replacement probes? Seems to me there's a real
need for repro probe sets for these instruments. Virtually all of my
VTVM's still work perfectly; never even had to replace a tube, just
clean up the switches, add a new battery, and re-cal. Seems a shame to
let them all sit idle for lack of a probe.
