Eddy,
Had a very similar problem with my 301 and made a temporary fix by using a
small diameter "O" ring. Worked ok until I found a replacement drive
mechanism.
Its possible a couple of the elastic bands used by dentists on "retainers"
could be used. Hope this helps.
