SB-630 Clock

Several years ago I did some research on this clock issue. Some had success
with drilling a small hole in the top of the mechanism, putting some
penetrating oil inside, letting it set, draining in, inserting some oil, and
soldering the hole closed. Some had success unsoldering the back of the
clock and cleaning out the mechanisms. I actually found a company (American
Signal or something like that) that would make the mechanism but the price
would have been around $70 each in quantities. I have also seen some
mechanisms in catalogs that look the same but the SB-630 clock needs a
mechanism that runs in reverse at 1 RPM. The available one I saw had the
right speed but did not run in reverse.

There doesn't seem to be a reasonably priced permanent solution.

Alan,

Finding a parts unit at a hamfest, etc. is the best method of replacing that
clock mechanism.
I suppose a clock repair shop could handle it, but I'd be sure to get a firm
estimate first!

Good luck,
