ebay

In spite of the fact that I live in the Los Angeles area, if I were looking for a specific boatanchor item, I could go to lots of garage sales, estate sales or hamfests and never find what I was looking for. What makes ebay interesting is that on any given day, you have a good chance of finding what you're looking for.

I've had mixed results, but the worst that has in my happened in my transactions was what might be called "puffing," where the seller's representations did not quite match my impression of the gear. However, everything has worked, and I have been happy to easily find what I was looking for.

Additionally, I think that rising prices may save some rigs that might otherwise be scrapped. If prices were too low, it might not be worth the bother for a non-ham to try and sell some old ham gear with ancient tubes. My two cents. Tom
