Attention fellow lovers of the green (and gray):
Theres been a lot of talk about power cords for the SB transmitters and
receivers that use them. A lot of solutions have been offered up here,
and I
wanted to offer mine, which I discovered while tinkering today, trying
to
find a way to power my sb 303 without butchering. I found a perfect
solution
that I wanted to pass on.
It is easily reversed, leaves no marks or holes and if reversed no
one will be
the wiser....
Find a mobile CB radio. Most of these will use a three prong power
socket.
I removed it from the CB, removed the three prong power socket on the SB
303,
and the CB socket fit right in the hole... no enlargements, no drilling,
no nothing..
bolted right in. Resolder the power leads and the two capacitors to
the two outer
pins... ignoring the third middle pin.
Then, I took a CB power cord and spliced an ac cord to it, using
crimp connectors and heat shrink tubing to make it look nice.
Alternately you could
put an AC plug on the end of the CB power cord. The cord plugged into
the
socket just like a mobile CB and I was using the SB 303.
For the purests who will want to reverse it before reselling, I put
the old power
socket into a small lplastic bag and taped it inside the unit on the
chassis wall, so
it wouldnt dislodge and can easily be found again.
