Ray.. I have used inverters for many things, most notably running an expensive laptop in my motor home. Providing you buy one big enough to handle the load you should have no problem. My suggestion would be the PortaWatts product. The output is as close to a sine wave as you can get, it is protected against overload and the output is stable, and although the manual says to turn it off if you are starting the vehicle, I find that 9 times out of 10 it doesn't even notice the momentary dip in the 12VDC source. They are quiet (fan comes on from time to time) and reliable. They can be had from 150/300/600/1000 and2500 watts. The 600 up models need hardwiring to 12VDC while the 150-300 are cigarette lighter plugs. My 300 watt jobbie cost about $75 and runs small tools, TV's, desk top PC etc.;
