Where is everybody?

When I post something to this list, I get an autoresponse that says it was
sent to over 700 people. However, I rarely see more than about 20 regulars
on here. Does anyone check periodically to see if any of the e-mail
responses have bounced, as if people no longer use the e-mail address they
signed up with? Or are there really 680 inactive readers who are deleting
every message without comment?
