Hola!

Boys and girls.

I know this has happened before. Your sitting there minding your own
business and whoa! Smoke starts pouring out of your rig. Seems the power
supply went kaput and sent +23 volts into the radio.

Or your hook the rig up backwards and puff! more smoke

Well I have designed a small PC board that will protect your 12 volt radios
from the following:

1. over voltage, without blowing fuses
2. reverse polarity protection, without series diodes or fuse blowing
3. soft start for mobile radios, about a ten second delay
4. low battery led warning for those of us that run our rigs on batteries
i.e. field day

All of this is on a pc board about the size of a playing card. it will fit
inside the HP-1144 supply and the HWA202 supply. You can also mount it
external to the supply if you wish. Use it at field day or other emergency
setups. It will also work with any other 12 volt supply which does not have
overvoltage protection built in

I call this project "the protector" Kit price will be $30 plus shipping

There are a few small changes to be made to the pc board, but will have a
run of 100 boards by the first of august 01.

I will try and have a photo or two uploaded to the heathkitshop by the end
of sunday night
