DX-60 and HG-10

I'm currently thinking about purchasing a DX-60 and HG-10 for AM use and was
wondering if someone on the list whose had experience with these two units
could tell me if the the HG-10 vfo is usable on AM or just on CW.  The
descriptions I've read on a couple of web sites has me a little confused on
this.  To quote one source, referring to the vfo, "the circuit is designed
for grid-block keying with the DX-60 or for cathode keying with other other
transmitters."  This leads me to think the vfo is only for cw use and not
phone use.  Please pardon my ignorance here but any help appreciated.
