1N458 Diodes

Hi Heathies
I blew two 1N458 diodes (56-24) in aligning syntesizer board of my HW-5400.  Should I replace these with generic 1N458A at $0.15 or equivalent NTE177 at $1.08.  Or should replace with a more rugged substitute so I won't have to troubleshoot again?  Perhaps one of the old Heath technicians (Ed Mosher, etc.) would have suggestions, all of which are appreciated from a great group.
