Lokks like someone knew how to build something. Back in the mid to late 70's
I prostituted myself as a CB service and repair guy. I had an FCC license
and it put food on the table at a time when I really needed it. One thing I
always refused to work on was linear amplifiers but they were out there and
I had knowledge of them. A pair of sweep tubes was a very popular type of
amplifier being sold by a number of manufacturers at the time. They usually
ran a very high voltage on the plates, in excess of 800 volts with 900 volts
not too uncommon. They also usually had some kind of RF detector inside to
key the T/R relay. As for having only a single capacitor that could mean one
of two things. One is that the output is set for a fixed load, presumably 50
Ohms or two that the builder knew that dispensing with plate tuning
capacitor on 10 (?) meters increases available power output on that band.
Those sweep tubes had a lot of interelectrode capacitance on their own
without having an extra capacitor. They also usually didn't have tuned input
and required much less than 4 watts drive for full output. Browning had a
so-called "Business Band" linear that only required about 1 1/2 watts to
drive it to full output which was around 120 watts. Or so I remember.

Please look at the attached links and see if you recognize this little
linear. It uses a pair of 6JE6s and is self contained. Someone did a
wonderful job making this little jewel. Just wondering if anyone has seen
this circuit? The four knobs on the left side are two position switches
with unknown functions. The two large controls are a small loading
capacitor and the other is a roller inductor. The two knobs under the meter
are unknown but probably for SWR functions.
Appreciate your comments.
