Heathkit SB-300 problem

I have a problem that recently developed with my Heathkit SB-300 receiver.
The RF gain control no longer works at all. I think it is stuck in the
maximum position. Also now when I change to the "standby" position the
receiver is not muted. It acts just the same as in the operate position.
Otherwise, the receiver still works fine. I am not hooked up to any
transmitter. Any help would be welcome.
