Hi Harold,
Mouser sells caps in that range. Unfortunately they come in a "snap-in" can
that's about 1/4 the volume of the original HP23 caps. What I have done is
glue the new caps to the mounting rigs with GOOP (works well) and then
remount the caps in the original holes. A second problem arises -- the
original design mounted the 20K/2W resistors to tabs of the capacitors. The
new ones won't accommodate this. If you replace the seriesed diodes with
single 1N4007s (or 1N5408s), that will free up enough terminal tabs to mount
the resistors.
Are you sure you need new caps?? After I replaced the caps in three HP-23s,
I measured the old caps and found them all good. I have refurbed four
SB-401s which use the same design and all the caps there were also good,
even though they are older than the HP-23 caps. Of course if one blows up,
then you have real trouble!!
