You are correct on having "wiggle room". I didn't know the specs of the
transformer in question but I do know a few generalities about them. The
first variable is the primary voltage required for the given secondary
voltage. I've seen anything from 110 to 125 VAC. Then there's the load
current which usually specified as a maximum. According to a conversation I
had with a transformer manufacturer representative, those figures vary +/- 5
to as much as 10%. So generally speaking, transformer specifications are
usually a moving target! The only times I've seen transformer specs cast in
stone, so to speak, is when dealing with the military.

The Tempe/ Heath reflector is deifinitely made up the friendliest group of
people on any reflector.
In case any one ever needs this info:
Heath part number for the HWA-7-1 power transformer is 54-233.
The specs on the secodary voltage are 33VAC CT @ 450 mA, although one person
took an actual measurement and found it at 36 VAC, so there's some wiggle
room.
Many thanks to W4DAS, NI4Q, Murray @ Multi-Volti, NY7Y, WB8VGE, Bruce M,

and others for their helpful responses.
