They're usually plexiglas.
You can get all the parts to make up one from Home Depot or Orchard Supply.
In the nut, bolts, screws section, look for nylon spacers (usually in a
drawer). You should find one 1" long, 1/2" OD, .259 ID. Drill & tap for a
6/32 set screw 1/8" in from each end. I usually install 2 screws on each
end -- 90 deg apart. There you have it -- a shaft coupling that's about 1/8"
shorter than the original.
