Heath CD ROM update

Hi all,
I bought a scanner, and have already scanned 80-90% of the photos - well
over 200 of them. The black and whites take up about 1.5MB each at 150 DPI.
That seems to be the best compromise, and they look very good on the screen,
although I scanned some at higher resolution to show fine detail. I didn't
use any of the software's image enhancement features, as I thought the user
could soften or sharpen as they see fit while they're viewing. As I said,
they look great as scanned.
So... I've already got close to a CD's worth. Aside from occasional PC
hangups/reboots, it's going pretty fast. Once I have the rest of the photos
in, I'll see what it takes to scan text. I have a feeling it will require
much higher resolution. That may have to be a future project anyway, as I'll
have to check into getting releases from newspapers, etc. I want to get the
photos organized, captioned to the best of my knowledge, and onto a CD. I've
got some things coming up that may slow this project down a little, but I'm
a lot further along than I thought I'd be just two days from getting the
idea!
Terry
