sb102 - Drive Belts

Chris., Re SB-102 drive  belts. ...Be careful the belts don't put too much
strain on the variable capacitors. This is a real problem with the final
tuning cap (LOAD) as the shaft  is long enough that you get a real
"leverage" effect going and it can actually bend the shaft and cause the
plates to short. I use dial string. Its  a pain to do, but its much less
tension. I have a copy of a heath bulletin for HW-101's that actually has
you replace the drive belt with dial string...I had this problem on an
SB-101. The final load cap was shorted due to a drive belt.........Good
