Hw-100 Mod

All,
  There is a Heath factory mod # HW-100-18 that is supposed to be a fix for the ALC meter when transmitting. The mod involves placing a 2K resistor between lug 1 of relay 1 and the center of the S meter zero adjustment.
  Has anyone out there tried this? I did and the meter stayed below zero at all times and would not adjust. What was your experience?
