Differences between SB-300 and SB-301?

Hi, Dave;

Some comments:

You cannot interchange filters between the two without serious
modifications. They are physically different.

Some of the improvements the SB-301 has:

   1. Addition of a RTTY position on the mode switch.
   2. Addition of a 15.0-15.5 position on the bandswitch for WWV
reception.
   3. Addition of an ANL circuit.
   4. Addition of a front panel control for the VHF converters.
   5. The characteristics of the filters is different. The AM filter has
been widened and the CW filter narrowed.

According to a Heathkit bulletin you must remove the crystal pack (10)
and realign both the transmitter and receiver connected together, for
transceive operation. Don't plan on just switching back and forth with
the front panel switch.

If it were me, I would try to acquire the filters for the SB-301 and sell
the SB-300. Better yet; sell them both and get a SB-102.

Good luck,

Ed Richards
