Differences between SB-300 and SB-301?

I had the same "problem".  Elected to
move the filters over
to the '301.  Don't recall now but
either had to enlarge the
existing holes or drill one or two new
ones (hidden by the filter).
If you plan to use the converters, the
'301 front panel switch
is a lot handier than raising the lid on
the '300.
The obstacle I had to overcome was the
'301 front panel color
does not match the '401.  But then, very
few panels match
each other anyway.
