SB 401

Good evening,

I am having some trouble with an SB401

1.  The cw level control has no effect at all on the grid
current indicator, which is way to high when the xmtr is
loaded.  The pot is good and there is a voltage on the pins
which varies when the pot is turned. Any ideas where to
start?

2.  The Relative Power meter doesn't work due to a blown
diode. I replaced it with an 1n34a as the manual says its a
crystal diode. It too went after a while. What modern diode
would be a suitable replacement? How about 2 1n34a's in
parallel?
