I also built one of these - a truly enjoyable kit complete except for the receiver board [I think they chose to align them at the factory (ala the AM - FM receivers from the Audio Kits)] I've had excellent results with the Whip
pressed against the ceiling. It usually updates itself Once Or Twice a day. I think a really neat Kit.
