Question on 301/401 combo

  Hi All,

  I just put a set of the Heath twins on the table to operate
for awhile and they seem to work fine. However I notice
if I place the 401's function switch in the TRANS position
I get a hum in the 301's speaker and this occurs if the
FREQ CONTROL switch is in locked or unlocked position,
I don't hear it when the 401's function switch is in TRANS.
The 401 has the crystal pack installed, and the units are
wired up for transceive operation. I always thought that
you could them in the transceive mode OR separate mode
when they are wired for transceive, is that not the
case?
