HW-12 Help

  Gentlemen,

   I'am trying to resurrect an old HW-12A. My trouble is or appears to be
the tube socket on V12 which is a 6EB8, the AF amp.  Usually when the set
is turned on I have no receive until I move the tube around in the socket.
I have tried 3 different tubes and they were all ok but still had the same
problem. I re-soldered the socket pins with no affect. It appears to be
clean in the pin holes and the socket appears not to have any cracks that
might let it move and go intermittent. It looks like the solder they used
on the main circuit board was very poor because each joint is very dirty
and when it is re-heated the old flux really rolls out of the joint and
it's hard to get it to take the new solder. Any other ideas??  Thanks es 73
