SB301/401 question

Seems to me I remember awhile back someone saying they
had problems with using the 301/401 combination due to the
fact the het osc in the 301 isn't regulated and there was freq
shift between rec and xmit, but I can't remember for sure. Has
anyone run into that problem? I don't see why it would be a
problem between xmit and rec since the same B+ source is
used in both states. If there is a problem I would think it would
be a possible change in loading of the osc and might require
a buffer stage between the het osc output in the 301 and
the 401 het osc input.
I've never used the combination as a transceiver, I would be
interested in any experience others have had here.
