resoldering circuit boards

As another point, resoldering joints, etc, is not just for Heathkits. I
recently had a Panasonic TV set (all solid state but with plug in
boards) which was giving me fits with intermittent operation. At first
you could restore operation by a judicious 'tap' on the top or side but
it just got worse and worse until I kept the back off it and would reach
around and push boards, etc to try to find out where the problem was.
Finally isolated it to one board (with a 50 pin plug in connection to
the motherboard). Took a good long look at the board but couldn't see
any bad joints. So I just took the soldering iron and resoldered each
pin connection. Fixed! Apparently a bad solder joint that was just not
apparent on visual inspection. And way to complicated to try to figure
out the problem with scopes, meters, etc.
