MFJ Tuner & Heath Cabinet

To All:

I have an MFJ-989C tuner and it seems to work pretty well. The only thing
that presents a problem is the internal dry 50-ohm dummy load. Even with
short duration tests at 100-watts, the 50-ohm refractory tube gives off an
acrid, sharp, choking, pungent oder that 's very irritating. I don't know
what's on this load, but I think that's a liability for MFJ. Measured
resistance is close to 50 ohms, and a reflected power measurement at 100
watts shows that it's okay, too, so the load seems right. But there seems to
be something on this tube that is given off when it gets warm.

Secondly, I'm looking for a Heathkit cabinet only that fits an SB-300 or
SB-301 that's in very good, physical shape. Prefer one that has NOT been
re-painted.

Thanks, and regards,
