DX-100 question

There was a Heath field modification kit for the
DX-100 that changed the loading from the 50 pf
variable and fixed switched capacitors to a triple
section variable capacitor that was continuous tuning.
The transmitters thus modified were referred to
"unofficially" as DX-100A models. That is why Heath
came out with the DX-100B as the next production
model. The DX-100B had the variable loading.
Also, there was a Heath modification kit to add a red
spotting switch under the Heathkit label and to also
improve the CW keying characteristics. You can get a
copy of the instruction sheet for this kit from BAMA.
The other side should still have separate functions
since the outer knob controls the VFO - Crystal
positions and the inner knob controls the drive.

Normal DX-100's (not the B version) have two dual
concentric knobs with a red center knob. On the left
side, it's for drive, and on the right side there's a
coarse and fine adjustment for something -- maybe
loading. However, on this one, the center knobs on
both sides were dark gray, not red, and the coarse and
fine knobs, though concentric, were not separate (they
turned together).
