Diodes

Actually, if John has access to the internet (which presumably he does) he
has access to more semiconductor reference material than probably ever
existed on any bookshelf;

A quick internet search revealed the following:

d8apro's Heath Cross-reference (http://www.d8apro.com/heath3.htm) says that a
57-27 is a 600 PIV, 1A Rectifier; with a generic P/N of 1N2071, and an
Alternate Choice of a 1N4005. His site doesn't seem to list a 1N5819, but
according to the Phillips website
(http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/pip/1N5817) says that the 1N5817,
5818, and 5819 are all similar Schottky Barrier Diodes, and datasheets can be
downloaded there. Assuming that they are reasonably similar in their
electrical characteristics, d8apro's site does list a 1N5817, and says that
it's a 20 PIV, 1A Schottky.

In any case, aside from d8apro's website which, only comes up as a listing in
some searches, typing 1N2071, 1N5819, etc., into virtually any search engine
will generally produce more search results (including the site of almost any
semiconductor manufacturer that you can think of, besides numerous
cross-reference sites) than any of us will ever have time in our lives to
investigate.

Just a thought. Hope this helps.

Doug
