SB-650 question

Hi Mark,
I'm using a AADE DFD2 display with my sb-301,-401 and I found putting a Y on
the -301 output jacks worked well for the LMO and BFO connections. However
I could not get the HET output to drive both the counter and -401. I tried
all kinds of schemes and finally added a pre-amp which solved the problem.
See: http://aade.com/preamplifier.html

The preamp is mounted in the SB-301 with double-backed 3M mounting pads
approximately under the preselector tuning cap. The input side connects to
the same place as does the HET cabling to the rear panel jack and the output
side goes the SPARE jack near the antenna inputs. The SPARE drives the HET
input of the counter. I'm not sure if the extra cabling disturbs the
tuning -- I had retuned everything so many times trying to get it to work
that I lost track of the original settings.

I used RG62 for all external cabling and RG175 for the internal wiring. If
you use the preamp, I would recommend increasing the filter capacitor to 100
uf (at least).

Here is a shot of another AADE preamp that I use to isolate a SB-630 from
the crystal filters.

Its mounted beneath the LMO.
