D-104 question

Already a wealth of ideas coming my way!

Interesting, there are ceramic (D-104C) and crystal (D-104) versions.  I
assume that the crystal version without the amp would be the best way to go
for this application.  I figure a preamp would only give me something to
misadjust and make the mic sound bad (although perhaps the ceramic version
would require it for this application).  So my plan at this point would be to
make sure and buy a D-104 over a D-104C, and remove and rewire if an amp was
present.  Thoughts?
