HW-101 Balanced Modulator Diodes

Has anyone ever tried substituting Schottkey diodes for the 1N191 diodes
in the balanced modulator for the HW-101?

Currently I am rebuilding one and figured that now might be the time to
replace the diodes rather than after I reassembled the entire unit. I
plan on pulling the diodes and checking them out-of-circuit and replace
the entire diode ring should one be bad.
