Tuning cap grease

Anyone know how to make the main tuning cap in a DX-100 turn easier? It
looks like the small round wafer that insulates the rotor shaft from the
chassis and allows the extender shaft to be attached to it is overstressed
and I worry that it'll break unless I can make that tuning cap turn easier.
