We sold a similar radio - not Heath. They are quite directional in
the null zone, so if all the interference is from one direction it
could work for you.

I remember people used to make external loop antennas using computer
ribbon cable to make a big flat spiral (helix). Make an antenna
that's 4' by 4', about 20 turns, and you get some real results.
