According to the manual (original manual, not a
copy!), only the CW BFO crystal came with the SB-401.
There was no need for either the USB or LSB crystals
since those frequencies are provided by the receiver
(SB-300, SB-301, SB-303) when used with the receiver.
There were 10 crystals in the crystal pack. The 8
heterodyne oscillator crystals plus the USB and LSB
BFO crystals.

The only crystal listed in the parts list for the
basic SB-401 is part number 404-215, the 3395.4 KHz CW
crystal. On page 97 of the manual, the start of the
alignment instructions with the SBA-401-1 Cyrstal
Accessory Kit Installed, the following is noted:

CRYSTAL INSTALLATION

( )Refer to the lettering on top of the chassis and
install the proper crystals in the eight crystal
sockets. The crystal frequency is stamped on the top
of each crystal.

( )Refer to Figure 1-1 (fold-out from Page 86) and
install the 3396.4 kHz USB and 3393.6 kHz LSB crystals
in sockets Y9 aand Y11 on the carrier generator
shield.

Thus, there were all 10 crystals in the accessory
crystal pack.

The SB-400 came with all eleven crystals (8 HFO and 3
BFO); the SB-401 just came with the three BFO crystals
as standard, mounted in three sockets under the
chassis. You had to buy the eight HFO crystals for the
SB-401 for use as a stand-alone transmitter (the
crystal pack).
