Need Details for SA 2040 tuner

Hi Charlie--To set the counter, loosen the set screw on one, or both of the
bevel gears that drive the counter from the inductor shaft. Turn the
inductor fully counterclock-wise until you hit the end stop. Roll the
counter to 000 by hand. Lightly mesh the 2 gears and tighten the setscrews.
I believe the counter will reach 250 when you hit the clockwise end stop. As
for dis-mantling, I have partly dismantled the inductor right in the tuner
to clean the winds and the roller. Undo the counter gears. Then, I use a
short screwdriver to un-do the 4 end screws that hold the left upper and
left lower tie rods. This allows the leaf springs to relax so that the
roller and roller rod can be removed for cleaning, and at the same time the
inductor will now roll freely for cleaning. Hope that
helps...Regards..Dennis Norton W2DJN
