6146 Type Tubes

Hans has a good question, at least to me. I have a KWM-2A pulled out of military service in 1992. SN 38XXX, WE). I just checked the final tubes and discovered one is a 6146 and the other is a 6146W. The power supply has the solid state replacements for the rectifier tubes. I was told that the power supply, external VFO and KWM-2A were used together in the same station before they were pulled for disposal. I'm very curious about any comments the list might have for Hans regarding possible mods made. And if mods were made, how would they effect the use of the 6146 and 6146/A?
Tnx.
Bill, W4PCK

I think it is better to find what goes wrong with B type tubes. Most tubes
that can be bought today are B types. When you read Zook's story you can
read dat Collins did a mod to use the B types. What dit they change?
