More SB-101 Help?

Hi there, fellow Greenies-
A quick recap and a new request for some assistance. I got a very clean
SB-101 recently that I'm restoring to original condition and during the
process I found that three of the Heterodyne Oscillator Crystals wouldn't
start- 21, 28, and 29 MHz. A very kind soul (Ron Hinze KB0WAR) sold me the
whole crystal deck from an HW-101, so I thought I was home free.
Well, I put the three Heterodyne Oscillator Crystals in, and proceeded to
crack the slug in the coil for the 28 MHz crystal (and of course it's jammed
in the form) while tuning the thing up. It seems to me I remember seeing a
tip for removal of the slugs from the "Soda Straw" coil forms some time ago-
maybe here, or maybe even in QST's "Hints and Kinks". Can anybody help me
with this info? Or, does anybody have a spare 28MHz Heterodyne Oscillator
Coil (Heath p/n 40-693 (Brown Color Dot)) that they would part with?
Another observation I made while going through the alignment, is that the 21
MHz Heterodyne Oscillator Crystal oscillates well, but is 20kHz off
frequency! Any ideas here? Everything in the oscillator circuit looks
okay, and all other crystals (except 28 MHz, of course) are operating within
a kHz or two of their crystal frequency.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as usual.
Regards,
Dave Hallidy K2DH
