HA-2036a audio amp ic.

Has anyone replaced the audio amp ic in one of these? The part is a TBA-820L
, you can find a TBA820M, but it is a 8 pin package instead of a 14 pin,
guess an adaptor could be made. I was hoping a LM380 might sub for it, but I
wanted to see if anyone had tried any other replacements.
Also having an intermittent transmit when the radio is keyed, the relay
kicks in ok, but I don't get any rf. I have gone over the PA board for opens
traces to no avail. It seems to have started to get much worse lately. I
guess I could try a new relay. This is not the same radio as the one with
the audio amp that has failed- in that one the ic literally exploded.
