Thanks to all who offered help with subject radio. 

My SB-104A is now working, and I am not
sure what I did to fix it. The only thing that I think it might be is the
VFO in, VFO out jumper on the rear panel.  Anyway, I hope that was it, if
not, I have an intermittent trouble somewhere. 
Oh, on the no output with key down, I may not have been pressing the
VOX switch in, not sure of that either.
