Matching SB paints

Actually, I have found at least 5 different colors
that Heath used on the SB-Line cabinets. These range
from a pretty "putrid" shade of green to a much more
pleasing gray with a hint of blue.

I have seen equipment bought at the same time with
totally different cabinet paint! Thus, I think that
Heath's suppliers painted the cabinets with whatever
color was in the gun at the time. At least it looks
so!

What I have finally done is to have the color that is
most appealing to me matched by Sherwin-Williams in a
satin finish acrylic paint. I then repainted all of
my cabinets (SB-101, SB-110A, SB-301, SB-401, SB-630,
and two SB-600) all the same color. That way things
"look" the same. Previous to this I had no less than
4 different colored cabinets. The 5th paint job was
on an SB-303 that I traded off a couple of years ago.

The front panels have at least 3 different shades of
green, possibly more. However, since repainting of
the panels would involve silk-screening I have had to
leave them as is. Fortunately, my SB-301 and SB-401
have the same color. Since the other equipment sits
in different positions on my "console" the fact that
the front panels are not the same color is not as
obvious.

Collins Radio, in the S-Line is pretty much "right on"
to the same color. Thus, I didn't even think of
repainting any of my S-Line equipment.

When I painted the whole case and let it dry for about
12 hours, I compared it to a SB-600 (original paint)
and there was a match.
