Well, the potential accuracy of the meter is certainly there, but there's no
telling what a previous owner might have screwed up! The best approach is
to find someone who does have a Bird or something similar and ask them to
calibrate your 2140 for you. As you say, giving up a little accuracy is
certainly acceptable, but it's nice to be able to drive an amplifier to the
legal limit and be sure you're not over it. Some of the meters I've used
are as much as 30% off at 1500 watts. Not a problem with the 2140.
